The Forum is part of the Action Plan of improving the quality of ICT workforce in the Program “Promoting Investment Attraction into Da Nang City in the 2021 – 2025 period, with a vision towards 2030”; acting as a platform for relating parties to connect and exchange ideas, information and propose policies and solutions to develop and enhance the quality of ICT workforce.
Addressing the Forum, Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang People’s Committee Ngo Thi Kim Yen states that over the past time, ICT has become one of the spearhead sectors for the city’s economic development. Da Nang City identifies ICT sector as a foundation for economic restructuring and growth model renewal, promoting the development of new industries, including high-technology industry, digital transformation, smart city, etc. The Vice Chairwoman underlines the importance of high-quality human resources, especially ICT human resources in the sustainable development of the city’s economy. In the context of globalization and international economic integration, Da Nang City determines that besides a stable socio-political environment, a favorable legal environment, high-quality human resources is a competitive advantage of Da Nang in attracting investment.
At the Forum, representatives of Department of Information and Communications, The University of Da Nang, Da Nang Software Association, LG VS DCV, Axon Active Vietnam - Da Nang Branch also delivered presentations with topics related to the development of high-quality ICT human resources in the city, potentials for ICT development, recruiment demand, linkages between educational institutions and businesses in training and developing ICT workforce.
The panel discussion is moderated by Director of Da Nang Investment Promotion Agency Huynh Lien Phuong and joined by organized by Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Communications Tran Ngoc Thach, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap - Rector of the University of Technology Vietnam - Korea information and communication, Mr. Le Tri Hai - Chairman of Da Nang Young Entrepreneurs Association, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Green Global IT JSC, Mr. Nguyen Van Thinh - Director of Regional Development Center of ABeam Co., Ltd. Consulting. The main goal of the panel discussion is to identify the challenges and opportunities of ICT workforce development across the city, to engage into dialogue and find the cooperation potential among training institutions, policy makers and IT businesses for better results in the future.
Conluding the Forum, Director of Da Nang Investment Promotion Agency recognizes and appreciates the contributions of all the delegates. Mrs. Phuong commits that IPA Da Nang will collect and propose the solutions to relevant departments to further improve the quality of ICT human resources, contributing to the socio-economic development of the city.
Total revenue of the IT industry in Da Nang city in 2022 is estimated at 34,293 billion VND, achieving 103.4 %of the plan, increasing 9.6% compared to the same period in 2021. Software export turnover reached 110 million USD, achieving the year target, increasing 11.8% over compared to the same period in 2021. In particular, according to the Digital Transformation Index Assessment Report of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Da Nang's digital economy in 2021 contributed 12.57% to the city's GRDP (higher than the national average of 9.6%). As of the end of 2021, Da Nang had around 44,000 ITworkers, of which the majority of human resources worked in the field of software and digital content. According to the City's Masterplan Project, in the period of 2022 - 2025, the city needs an addition of at least 7,500 employees per year and in the period pf 2026 - 2030, this number is 8,000 people per year. |
