Aiming to introduce the Danish government's business support programmes to local departments and businesses in Danang, Danang Branch of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and Danang Investment Promotion Center co-hosted with the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam in a seminar on Danida Business Partnerships and Finance in the morning of August 8th 2014 in Danang. Attended the seminar were Vice Chairman of Danang People's Committee, Mr. Phung Tan Viet, Denmark Embassy's Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Christian Brix Moller, representatives of the city authorities and local businesses.
At the meeting, Mr. Phung Tan Viet, Vice Chairman of Danang People's Committee briefly introduced the city's socio-economic achievements, particularly on infrastructure, urban planning, as well as advantages and potential in attracting inward foreign investment. He suggested that the Embassy of Denmark continue to support the local enterprises in accessing information on the Danish Government-financed business support programmes and introduce Danang to Danish businesses for exploring investment opportunities.
Mr. Moller, highly praised the Danang leaders for the impressive development of the city. He remarked that the support from Denmark would be of benefit to not only the private sector but also the city development alongside its business–friendly environment, developed infrastructure, and incentive policies for its private sector.
Two business support programmes, i.e. Danida Business Finance Programme and Danida Business Partnerships Programme, were introduced at the seminar . The former offers interest-free loans for projects in developing countries to assist them in purchasing equipments and related technical support. The latter organizes workshops and creates opportunities for partnerships between Vietnamese and Danish businesses, focusing on green technology transfer, creating decent jobs and improving the environment. The two programmes are aimed to support businesses and projects in the fields of renewable energy, energy saving, water and sanitation, waste management, food, healthcare and education.
Right after the detailed presentations, representatives of local businesses raised questions regarding the project eligibility, procedure and process to participate in the programmes. The local businesses have shown their eagerness over these programmes and hoped to reach out to Danish businesses through this support mechanism.
