Vietnam's gross domestic product (GDP) growth in the first half of the year was estimated at 5.18 percent from the same period last year, of which, the country's GDP growth was 5.09 percent in Q1/2014 and 5.25 percent in Q2/2014.
Of the growth of 5.18 percent of the whole economy, the agro-forestry and fisheries sector posted a growth of 2.96 percent, contributing 0.55 percentage points to the general growth, industry and construction sector saw a growth of 5.33 percent, making up 2.06 percentage points, and service sector reported growth of 6.01 percent, contributing 2.57 percentage points.
Regarding the economic structure in H1/2014, the agro-forestry and fisheries sector accounted for 17.69 percent, industry and construction sector accounted for 38.7 percent and service sector constituted 43.61 percent (it was 18.18 percent, 38.7 percent and 43.12 percent respectively in the same period last year).
In terms of GDP use angle in H1/2014, the final consumption increased by 5.19 percent on year and contributed 4.09 percentage points to the overall growth, of which, the final consumption of population increased 5.04 percent, higher than the rise of 4.49 percent in the same period last year and asset accumulation increased 5.8 percent and contributed 1.66 percentage points.
The agro-forestry and fisheries production value in H1/2014 (based on the comparison price in 2010) was estimated to increase 3.4 percent on year, of which, agriculture sector was up 2.5 percent, forestry up 5.9 percent and fisheries up 6 percent.
The index of industrial production (IIP) in June was estimated to rise 6.1 percent on year. Totally, in Jan-Jun, the IIP increased 5.8 percent on year, of which, the processing and manufacturing industry sector surged 7.8 percent, production and distribution of electricity soared 10.9 percent, tap-water supply and wastewater treatment up 5.9 percent while the mining sector declined 2.5 percent.
In June 2014, the country saw 6,087 newly-established companies with registered capital of 57.3 trillion dong, rising 10.7 percent in volume and 89.6 percent in value from the previous month. The number of companies suspending operation was 966 and the number of companies suspending operation without registration was 4,554 and the number of dissolved companies was 849.
Totally, in Jan-Jun, the country had 37,315 newly-established companies with registered capital of 230.9 trillion dong, down 4.1 percent in volume and 19.3 percent in value on year. The number of enterprises suspending operation was 6,066, the number of enterprises suspending operation without registration was 22,637 and the number of dissolved companies was 4,751. The first half of the year also saw 8,322 companies resuming operation, down 10.7 percent on year.
