At the meeting, the representative of Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade, Mr. Nguyen Van Chu - Deputy Director introduced an overview of the city's electrical energy infrastructure, supply situation and electricity development planning in the coming time. According to Power Plan VIII, Da Nang will focus on developing clean and renewable energy sources such as solar power, waste-to-energy power, biomass power, and storage hydropower, while modernizing infrastructure, building smart grids, ensuring energy security and sustainable development. He also expressed his desire that the units will cooperate with the city in sharing experiences, cooperating in promoting human resource capacity, digital transformation of energy management, etc.
KEPCO shared the development orientation for the next period, focusing on smart grid monitoring and management technology to minimize power loss, especially for large-scale manufacturing enterprises with high electricity consumption demand. KEPCO also expressed its desire to cooperate with Da Nang in projects to build and operate modern power plants (including nuclear power), as well as technology transfer and human resource training in the energy sector. It is known that KEPCO previously signed a cooperation agreement with the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) to promote bilateral cooperation in power source development and grid modernization.

The representative of KEPCO KDN introduced the Smart City projects that the unit is implementing, typically Eco Delta Smart City in Busan City – one of the national pilot cities of Korea. Here, KEPCO KDN has developed a distributed energy management platform, energy storage system (ESS), ICT solution in grid monitoring and control, towards a green and sustainable urban model. In addition, KEPCO KDN also cooperates in investing in projects to solve existing problems in large cities to help improve the problems of environmental pollution, traffic congestion, energy security, urban infrastructure safety and smart data management. Through solutions integrating ICT, IoT, artificial intelligence (AI) and modern energy management platforms, KEPCO KDN aims to build green, safe, and convenient cities, improving the quality of life for people. KEPCO KDN expressed its desire to cooperate with Da Nang in the field of smart cities, associated with the goal of building Da Nang into a smart, livable and sustainable city.

At the meeting, the representative of the leadership of the Office of Da Nang People's Committee, Ms. Huynh Lien Phuong – Deputy Chief of the Office emphasized: "We highly appreciate the advanced experiences and solutions that KEPCO and KEPCO KDN have shared, especially in the field of smart energy management and sustainable urban development. Da Nang City wishes to cooperate closely with units in the coming time, thereby gradually realizing the goal of building Da Nang into an environmental city, a smart, livable city and internationally competitive."

During the program, the delegation visited the gallery of the history of formation, development and typical projects of KEPCO and KEPCO KDN, learned about the energy transition process, digital technology application and power system optimization solutions in Korea.
Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) is a 51% state-owned joint stock company, formerly known as Hansung Electric Power Company established in 1898, with an estimated asset value of $177 billion. In the first quarter of 2025, KEPCO achieved revenue of 17.4 billion USD, commercial electricity output reached 141.0 TWh. KEPCO plays a key role in owning and operating the entire power transmission and distribution system in Korea. With this key position, KEPCO is considered one of the corporations closely associated with state policies, capable of being highly supported by the Korean Government in case of risks arising on an international scale, KEPCO is present in many regions such as Europe, Middle East, North America, Southeast Asia, with typical projects including Barakah Nuclear Power Plant (UAE, 5,600 MW), Shuweihat S3 Thermal Power Plant (UAE, 1,600 MW), Jawa 9 & 10 (Indonesia, 2,000 MW). In Vietnam, KEPCO is the investor of 2 thermal power projects in Ha Tinh (Vung Ang II) and Thanh Hoa (Nghi Son II). Both projects are invested in the form of BOT, with a total capacity of 2,400 MW, equivalent to 7.3% of the electricity produced by the private sector in Vietnam, partly addressing the electricity demand in the Northern region. The total investment for these two projects is nearly 5 billion USD (2.8 billion USD for Nghi Son II and 2.2 billion USD for Nghi Son II with Vung Ang II), in which KEPCO holds 50% and 40% of shares, respectively. KEPCO has long-term experience in the development of large power sources (thermal power, nuclear power, renewable energy), international investment and digital transformation of the power industry. KEPCO's development orientation is to reduce emissions, promote clean energy, renewable energy, and improve the efficiency of power grid management. KEPCO KDN is a unit of the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO). Established in 1992 and officially known as KEPCO KDN since 2000, the company has played a pioneering role in the digitalization of the power industry, the development of energy management systems (EMS), SCADA, smart metering infrastructure (AMI), and monitoring, operations and network security solutions for the power grid. With the vision of becoming an expert in green energy and digitalization ICT platforms, KEPCO KDN orients the development strategy of three main pillars: Smart Power Supply (smart power supply), Streamline Power Intelligence (data management and ICT infrastructure in the power industry), and Future-Proof Business (energy security solutions, renewable energy, digital transformation and global services). The company has expanded its international operations in many markets such as India, Vietnam (branch established in 2019), UAE (2021) and Canada, implementing microgrid, renewable energy and critical infrastructure security projects. The strategy to 2030 aims to achieve revenue of KRW 1.5 trillion, of which 30% will come from new energy ICT services, commercialization of KRW 200 billion in R&D, reduction of 41,900 tons of CO₂ emissions, while maintaining a AAA credit rating. With the ESG orientation "Clean Energy – Warm ICT – Trusted Business Enterprise", KEPCO KDN has achieved achievements in transparent governance, sustainable development and occupational safety for many years, thereby affirming its role as a strategic partner in the digital transformation and carbon neutrality of the energy industry. KEPCO KDN is a unit that directly implements many smart city projects in Korea and has strengths in technology transfer and energy use optimization.
