According to this Decision, the Da Nang People’s Committee has adjusted the project titled “Two Initial Berths of Lien Chieu Port” into a new project: “Comprehensive Investment and Development of Lien Chieu Container Terminal”, with the following specific objectives and scale:
Scale: A total of 08 container berths. From 2025 to 2030, the project will be implemented in phases, starting with 02 to 04 berths (equivalent to 02 to 04 quays), with a total length ranging from 750 meters to 1,650 meters. The terminal will be capable of receiving vessels of up to 100,000 DWT or larger, subject to technical conditions. Among these, 02 berths will serve as starter berths, and the remaining 02 berths will be developed in line with international container transshipment demand.
Throughput capacity: From 14.25 to 36.3 million tons per year.
Supporting infrastructure: Includes a railway yard, public parking area, and a railway line approximately 1.5 km long connecting to Lien Chieu Station.
Port hinterland: Comprises warehouse systems, port yards, and supporting infrastructure such as an operations office, service buildings, repair workshops, technical infrastructure, and equipment to ensure port operation.
Total area for investment: Approximately 172.6 hectares, including 25.76 hectares of water area in front of the berths.
Estimated total investment capital: Approximately VND 45,260 billion.
Investment form: 100% capital from the investor.
Land use status/Site clearance: Land and water surface; currently, there are 03 existing petroleum terminals that must be relocated.
At the same time, the city also added the “Liquid/Gas Terminal at the Lien Chieu Port” project to the list of projects calling for investment, with the following details:
Scale: A total of 06 liquid/gas berths. From 2025 to 2030, the project will be implemented in phases, beginning with 01 to 02 berths (equivalent to 01 to 02 quays). These berths will serve the exploitation and storage of LNG and LPG at the Lien Chieu Port, with a total length ranging from 250 meters to 750 meters, capable of receiving vessels of up to 100,000 DWT or larger, subject to technical conditions; including storage tanks for liquid/gas cargo and supporting facilities such as warehouses, workshops, and auxiliary infrastructure to ensure operation; throughput capacity in line with planning for the period 2021–2030 with a vision to 2050, including the national petroleum and gas storage and supply infrastructure plan and the national power development plan.
Total project area: Approximately 62.29 hectares, including:
Southern Liquid/Gas Terminal (02 LNG/LPG berths): Approximately 42.48 hectares, including 39.58 hectares for storage, berth area, and water surface, and 2.9 hectares for protective embankments to block waves and sand from the south.
Liquid/Gas Terminal behind the breakwater (04 berths to be invested in post-2030 phase): Approximately 19.81 hectares, including 17.92 hectares for berths and water surface and 1.88 hectares for shared technical infrastructure.
Estimated total investment capital: Approximately VND 5,429 billion.
Investment form: 100% capital from the investor.
Land use status/Site clearance: Land and water surface.
To implement this Decision, the People’s Committee of Da Nang has assigned the Department of Finance, Department of Construction, Department of Agriculture and Environment, and relevant agencies to coordinate in publishing the project list and providing project-related information in accordance with legal regulations. The Office of the People’s Committee of the City is tasked with directing the Da Nang Investment Promotion Agency to take the lead in developing promotional materials and organizing investment promotion activities related to the aforementioned projects.
