In his opening speech, Permanent Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Ho Ky Minh said that in recent times, Da Nang has made efforts to maximise "internal strength", combined with "external strength", as well as strengthened international cooperation to promote development, affirming the role of a pole of economic growth of the Central Highlands - Central region.
In 2024, the city's economy achieved many positive results. Its GRDP rose by 7.51% year-on-year. The scale of the city's economy at current prices reached more than VND 151,307 billion, expanding by nearly VND 17,086 billion compared to 2023.
In particular, a number of key economic sectors and fields, such as tourism, industrial production, and information technology, continued to develop strongly.
Vice Chairman Minh informed that the National Assembly recently passed Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 on the organisation of urban government and piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of the city.
The Resolution officially took effect on January 1, 2025, marking an important milestone in the city's development process with new development drivers such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, startups, innovation, and free trade zones.
In addition, along with Ho Chi Minh City being oriented to develop a comprehensive international financial centre, Da Nang was selected to pilot the development of a regional-scale financial centre.
Faced with new opportunities and advantages, Da Nang hoped that partners, the business community and investors will continue to promote cooperation, investment and business activities in the city.
Especially in the fields where businesses have strengths and Da Nang focuses on developing such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, innovation, free trade zones, and international financial centres.
The city's leaders are committed to continuously creating and perfecting a favourable and stable business environment for businesses and investors. The success of businesses and investors is also the success of the city.
At the workshop, representatives of the Da Nang Investment Promotion and Support Board presented investment opportunities in the context of new trends in the city. Meanwhile, representatives of the municipal Department of Science and Technology presented policies to promote startups and innovation in the city and representatives of the Department of Information and Communications shared information on policies to develop the semiconductor and artificial intelligence sectors.
The workshop also included presentations by the Mayor of Genoa (Italy), representatives of Chinese localities (Jiangsu, Shaanxi), and businesses and investors from the United States, and Taiwan (China).
