Opening the Workshop, Mr. Le Hoang Tai, Deputy Director of the Department of Trade Promotion, Ministry of Industry and Trade, said foreign investment (FDI) plays an increasingly important role in Vietnam's economic development. Since Vietnam joined the World Trade Organization (WTO) until now, total FDI investment capital from foreign countries into Vietnam has increased sharply from 20.3 billion USD to over 473 billion USD with more than 39,000 investment projects. is being deployed across the country. The total FDI capital comes from 144 countries and territories. Vietnam has participated in and signed 16 bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements, which have opened up opportunities to access most major markets in the world for manufacturing enterprises in Vietnam. Up to now, the import-export proportion of FDI enterprises accounts for about 75% of Vietnam's total import-export turnover. Therefore, the conference was organized with the goal of introducing topics on Investment needs and trends of Japanese businesses in Vietnam, Investment situation and solutions to increase investment attraction for businesses. Besides the conference program, VIETNAM EXPO 2024 also has many other outstanding events.
