During the meeting, leaders of Da Nang and Nvidia discussed global emerging trends in artificial intelligence (AI) and the potential to establish cooperative relationship between the two parties, especially when the bilateral relation between Viet Nam and the US had been elevated to comprehensive strategic partnership with a focus on promoting investment cooperation and innovation.
With the current global AI trend, Nvidia, with its experience in producing chips for AI, is predicted to surpass many formidable competitors to become the world’s largest semiconductor company in 2023. Ms. Shilpa Kolhatkar, Global Director of AI Nations and Deputy Director of Nvidia Office, highly appreciated Viet Nam's efforts in building a favourable investment and business environment for US semiconductor companies. She hoped that, in the coming time, there would be many cooperation programmes between Nvidia and Viet Nam in general and Nivida and Da Nang in particular.
Speaking at the meeting, Secretary Nguyen Van Quang stated that, taking the advantage of its competitive strengths, in its development strategy of the semiconductor industry, Da Nang would focus on the promoting microchip design and gradually developing chip assemblying, testing and packaging. To realise the goal of becoming one of the leading investment destinations in Viet Nam for semiconductor companies, Da Nang is working hard to develop preferential policies to support investors, and build a highly skilled workforce to meet the demands of investors. Mr. Quang also informed to Nvidia that the city currently has 250 microchip and electronic enterprises with 10,500 tech workers in total, including 550 microchip design engineers. He expected that Nvidia would support Da Nang to further develop the semiconductor industry, especially recommendations to build preferential mechanisms and investment support policies, technology transfer, human resource training, infrastructure investment, and the implementation of AI solutions.
At the invitation of Party Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, leaders of Nvidia said they would visit the city to study the investment opportunities in the coming time.
