The workshop aims to promote the image of Da Nang as a potential investment the destination, focusing on introducing the investment conditions, preferential policies, and investment support for investments in the field of semiconductor industry. The event takes advantage of the occasion of the upgrade of the Viet Nam - US relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development with a focus on promoting cooperation in science and technology, innovation, including the semiconductor industry.
The workshop welcomes the attendance of Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Da Nang City and more than 30 representatives of US semiconductor companies.
Permanent Vice Chairman of Da Nang People's Committee delivers opening remarks at the Workshop
In his opening remarks, Mr. Ho Ky Minh highlights that ICT associated with the digital economy is one of the five prioritized sectors of Da Nang city. In 2022, Da Nang's digital economy has contributed 19.76% to GRDP. Currently, Da Nang is home 2,450 digital enterprises (reaching an average of 2.3 businesses/1,000 people, ranking 2nd nationwide and 3 times higher than the national average) with about 46,000 tech workers. In its orientation to develop the IT industry in the city until 2030, Da Nang has identified semiconductor industry as the key sector of the economy. City leaders look forward to receiving recommendations on mechanisms, policies and solutions to build a more attractive investment environment for businesses in the semiconductor industry and pledge to accompany and support investors to effectively implement their projects in Da Nang City.
Deputy Director of Da Nang Investment Promotion Agency Le Hoang Phuc says that Da Nang boasts various competitive advantages, including strategic location, modern and synchronous technical infrastructure; abundant and highly-skilled workforce, improved business environment, high-quality life, etc. The city identifies the US as one of the key strategic partners in terms of investment cooperation, especially in the field of semiconductor industry. Da Nang Hi-tech Park is the only high-tech park in the Central region and one of the 03 national high-tech parks. It has completed infrastructure which is ready to serve the demands of investors.
Mr. Tran Thai Chau, Chairman and CEO of ITSJ-G speaks highly of the investment climate of the city and the openness and transparency of the city authority. He commits to supporting the city to develop the semiconductor supply chain and informs that ITSJ-G is working closely with partners to implement IC projects in Da Nang City.
At the Workshop, delegates also exchange information related to investment procedures, preferential policies and support from the city government when investing in Da Nang Hi-Tech Park. All delegates express their impression to the socio-economic development of Da Nang City and its potential for further development in semiconductor and high-tech industry. Da Nang City’s leaders also convey their commitments in supporting US investors to seek local partners and establish production supply chain in the city.
MOU signing ceremony
An MOU signing ceremony between Da Nang Investment Promotion Agency and ITSJ-G also takes place at the Workshop. Cooperation programs between the two parties will focus on promotion activities to call for investments from US investors into Da Nang City.
