Co-organised by the Da Nang Department of Information and Communications, and the Viet Nam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM) under the Ministry of Education and Training, the course aimed to continue implementing the Memorandum of Understanding between the two sides, signed in April 2021.
In his remarks at the event, Mr. Nguyen Quang Thanh, the Director of the municipal Department of Information and Communications, said that over the past time, the city has built and developed digital technology applications, including AI and Big Data, and such platforms as data warehouse, open data gateway, digital citizen, and digital journey.
The city has developed pillars of digital government, digital economy and digital society, as well as transformed the way of operation, direction and administration from a communication model into a digital environment.
Till date, the digital economy has contributed 19.76% of the city's Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), nearly reaching the target of 20% by the end of 2025. The total revenue of the city’s entire information and communication industry in the first six months of 2023 hit VND 18,102 billion, up 9.1% over the same period in 2022.
The software export turnover reached US$73 million, up 32.7% over the same period in 2022. A digital society was formed and developed with more than 92% of the population having a smartphone, 45% of the adult population having digital citizen accounts, and 33% of the population having electronic identity accounts.
Currently, the municipal Department of Information and Communications is working with the Viet Nam Informatics Association to pilot the Da Nang Blockchain Platform (Da NangChain) project in digital asset management. The first phase of the project is deployed according to the private model and focuses on applications for handicraft products, stone carving, and OCOP products on a trial basis.
The second phase of the project will be implemented according to the public model after expanding and adding infrastructure for Da Nang Chain, as well as pay special attention to solving the city's digital transformation problems, and forming a regional international financial center.
During the course, participants listened to presentations on Blockchain and digital economy; Fintech and Regtech (management technology); and new directions in artificial intelligence, thereby, raising awareness and disseminating new knowledge about digital technologies for management agencies, associations, businesses, start-up groups, universities, and research institutes citywide.
