The seminar aimed at introducing Da Nang investment environment and incentives to Japanese delegates; exchanging experience in investment facilitation activities; as well as creating a platform to connect Da Nang – Wakayama enterprises.
The seminar had the honour to welcome the attendance of Mr. Yakabe Yoshinori, Consul General of Japan in Da Nang; Mrs. Huynh Lien Phuong, Director of Da Nang Investment Promotion Agency; Mr. Yoshii Kazumi, a member of the Wakayama Prefectural Government and 150 Japanese delegates who represented typical enterprises in Wakayama and Da Nang organizations and enterprises.
In his welcoming remarks. Mr. Yakabe Yoshinori noted that Da Nang had made great efforts to strengthen the relationship between Viet Nam and Japan, which was highlighted by Vietnam-Japan Festival 2023 hold in the city from July 13 – 16. He underlined that while Ha Noi and HCM City were facing labour shortages and increasing land prices at industrial parks, Da Nang was seen as a promosing alternative with potential manpower and reasonable land prices for Japanese investors.

Mrs. Huynh Lien Phuong, Director of Da Nang Investment Promotion Agency said that Japanese investors ranked first in terms of FDI capital in the city with more than 01 billion USD in nearly 230 projects. In Da Nang Hi-tech Park, Japan had 07/13 FDI projects in the field of precision, R&D, electronic manufacturing. Japanese investors made great contributions to the socio-economic development of the city. Sharing the city’s experience in organizing investment promotion activities, Mrs. Phuong said that the activities always focused on deploying the city’s competitive advantages related to strategic location, highly-skilled workforce, high-quality life, supportive local government, etc.

Hirayama Keiji, leader of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Da Nang City (JCCID) said the number of Japanese investors, who were member of JCCI in Viet Nam had doubled since 2011. He mentioned that members of Japanese businesses in Da Nang alone had grown five times from 35 in 2008 to 160 in 2022. With its strengths, he believed Da Nang would attract more Japanese investors to the city in the coming time.
Mr. Yoshii Kazumi, member of the Wakayama Prefectural Government, said it was a great honour for him and the business delegation from Wakayama to join the investment promotion exchange event in Đà Nẵng. He said the event would lay a solid foundation for further cooperation in investment, tourism and different fields between Japan and Viet Nam.
The panel discussion took place effectively with active participation from both sides. Within the framework of the event was the business matching session, which was designed to foster fruitful exchanges and contacts in order to create and strengthen business partnerships between Da Nang and Wakayama.
