Under the plan, by 2023, priority will be given to strongly and synchronously developing the national and international logistics system associated with seaports, airports, international border gates, key economic corridors and inter-regional trade routes in 14 provinces and cities, namely Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien - Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan.
By 2030, Phan Thiet Airport and Quang Tri airports will be rebuilt and the 9 existing airports in the region will be upgraded.
Also during this period, the Ministry of Transport will support relevant localities to invest in building an aviation logistics centre associated with Da Nang and Chu Lai international airports, arrange logistics centre at airports with transport demand greater than 250,000 tonnes/year. Logistics centres ensure logistics conditions and connect appropriate types of traffic to transport goods through Da Nang and Chu Lai airports.
The Ministry of Transport is completing the system of legal documents related to the construction of transport sectors in the direction of prioritising the development of multimodal transport on the main transport corridors, especially the North-South corridor and others connecting with international gateway seaports in order to increase the volume of goods transported, reduce shipping and logistics costs, and at the same time, promote the development of the inland port system as a focal point to connect the combined modes of transport to provide logistics services.
