On behalf of Da Nang People’s Committee, Standing Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh gave a brief introduction about the city, the competitive advantages and development orientation in the coming time and affirmed that European countries were potential partners of Da Nang.
Speaking on behalf of EuroCham delegation, Mr. Alain Cany spoke highly of the city leader’s warm welcome and underlined that Da Nang was among one of the investment hotspots among EuroCham members, who were looking for investment oppportunities in the city in the fields of hi-tech, IT, digital transformation for green tourism, climate change response, etc., apart from tourism and commerce. He also stated that the meeting was a valuable opportunity his members to gain insight into the investment and trade environment of the city.
Mr. Alain Cany shared that transparancy and effective support from the government were the top 2 factors that European enterprises took into consideration when choosing investment destination.
In order to create favourable investment environment in a long term, EuroCham representatives proposed the city leaders to facilitate the entry procedures for experts, especially those working in IT industry. EuroCham suggested the city leader to support to hold a meeting between them and DOLISA to effectively solve this problem.
Besides, the city authority was expected to continue to give more support to European enterprises in Da Nang for their business expansion, further making contribution to the development of the strategic partnership between Viet Nam and EU.
Regarding EuroCham’s proposals, Standing Vice Chairman of DaNang People’s Committee Ho Ky Minh admitted that certain problems had arisen in the entry procedures of experts in the past time due to prevention and control of COVID-19 policies and pledged that the city would soon have a meeting to devise a more convenient procedure. He also noted that Da Nang was among the top provinces on the PCI with improved results on transparency, business support policies, etc.
On this occasion, Standing Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh informed that the city would organize Da Nang Invest Forum 2022 in June this year with the aim to showcase investment opportunities and invited Mr. Alain Cany, together with EuroCham members to participate in this event.
As of 2021, there were 140 FDI projects of European investors in Da Nang with a total investment capital of nearly 480 million USD. Specifically, there were 92 projects of investors from EU members with investment capital of 99 million USD. France was the largest investor in terms of project number (36 projects), followed by Germany (09 projects), Italy (08 projects) and Spain (07 projects). The projects were mainly in the field of F&B (restaurants, food manufacturing), education, consulting, software production, hospitality, electronic components (automobiles, computers, etc). |
