“The main reasons for this declaration are that a number of prompt yet highly effective digital transformation boosting guidelines and policies have been issued by the municipal government over recent years. Also, the city has gained positive results from the development of e-government model over the past decade, the implementation of the ‘Building a Smart City’ project for nearly 2 years, and the deployment of highly convenient apps in recent years” remarked Truc.
Besides, the city has high smartphone, internet and social network penetration rates, and a relatively young population quick to adapt to and adopt new technologies.
Assessing Da Nang’s strengths in digital transformation, Mr. Vu Tuan Anh, Deputy General Director of DR.SME Restructuring - Digital Transformation Co., Ltd. remarked, aside from the aforementioned advantages, an innovative startup ecosystem made Da Nang a fertile ground for the digital transformation.
“However, digital transformation is still a relatively new concept, requiring appropriate application and implementation, a long-term investment strategy, and the right guidance from the government authorities at all levels with the enthusiastic response of each individual in the organization” added Mr Anh.
Businesses want to have specific access to policies
Mr. Nguyen Huu Hung, Director of the Da Nang branch of the Fast Business Management Software JSC, said that currently, many businesses in Da Nang have many doubts about when and how they could access digital transformation effectively.
Mr. Nguyen Van Chuong, Director of Green System Solutions Co., Ltd., cum permanent member of the Board of Directors of the Da Nang Entrepreneurship Support (DNES), noted that as more and more businesses get involved with digitization, it is now essential to have a well-planned digital transformation strategy. And, acting as an incubator to support start-ups, DNES is always willing to support startups in the digital transformation process.
According to Ms. Vu Thi Bich Hau, Deputy Director of the city’s Department of Science and Technology, her unit has always encouraged businesses to carry out digital transformation and build pilot models on progressive application of such industry 4.0 technologies as AI, big data and IoT in business activities. Additionally, some support policies for businesses in technological innovation, start-up innovation, and practical application have been recently issued.
In the coming time, the department will coordinate with the municipal Young Entrepreneurs’ Association and other associations to facilitate businesses to access more support policies during their digital transformation.
