Operating under tightly controlled conditions

For the time being, the Da Nang Industrial Park (IP), known as An Don IP, and Tho Quang Fisheries Service Industrial Zone located in areas under lockdown in Son Tra District

There are currently 6 seafood production enterprises operating in the Tho Quang Fisheries Service Industrial Zone. In particular, the Thuan Phuoc Seafood and Trading Corporation temporarily suspended its operations from the morning of August 5 until further notice following an employee had tested positive for the coronavirus.

It is reported that all businesses have strictly compiled with the requirements of the municipal People's Committee in their production and business activities.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Lam, Deputy General Director of Massda Land Co.,Ltd, the governing body of Da Nang IP  informed that there are about 43 businesses operating in the IP. Some businesses operating here have temporarily shut down for about a week or until further notice. As for still-operating enterprises, only 20-50% of the staff are present here for work.

Following fresh approval by the municipal People's Committee, all businesses operating in the two IPs located in areas under lockdown in Son Tra District to resume operations provided that they must obey some restrictions against COVID-19.

These businesses must absolutely impose a ban on entry made by their employees who now permanently or temporarily in ‘medical self-isolation areas’ in tandem with implementing mandatory safety measures against COVID-19 under the direction of the municipal People's Committee and the Department of Health.

As for the principle of production organization, no more than 50% of the staff are present at the factory for work.

Before the resumption of operation, the businesses’ employees must all test negative for the virus.
In particular, COVID-19 testing must be carried out every 3 days for100% of workers present at the factory and the test results must be reported to the Son Tra District People's Committee and the Authority of the Da Nang Industrial Parks & Industrial Zones for their licenced operations.

In addition, paper-based permits must be granted to employees for their travel from home to the place of work.

Also, a list of means of transporting goods owned by these businesses must be sent to the Authority of the Da Nang Industrial Parks & Industrial Zones for certification.

Employees must get dressed in uniforms so that staff at COVID-19 checkpoints can easily identify and monitor.

Continuously maintaining production and business performance

Since the start of this year, despite the detection of some COVID-19 patients and their close contacts in Cam Le District-based Hoa Cam IP, 70 enterprises operating here have still maintained their production and business activities, hereby contributing to stabilizing social welfare and keep their employees on stable payrolls.

Upon the detection of a COVID-19 case at the Fujikura Automotive Vietnam Co., Ltd on the evening of August 4, functional forces from the Cam Le District People's Committee, the Da Nang Centre for Disease Control (CDC) and the Authority of the Hoa Cam IP made joint efforts to speeding up zoning, contact-tracing and testing to curb the further spread of the virus. Two days later, given its total 2,400 workers tested negative for the virus, the company was allowed to resume its normal operations.

“We still ensure the delivery schedule for our partners in the Japanese market, without cutting off the production capacity  despite the presence of the COVID-19 case. This is a great effort made by the company’s staff as well as the enthusiastic support from the all-level authorities”.

Also in the Hoa Khanh IP, the Viet Hoa Electronics Co., Ltd., which had been seen a cluster of many COVID1-19 cases, has resumed operation since the end of July.  Many such enterprises as the Vinatex International Fabric Company and the A Chau  Architecture and Trade Co., Ltd  have deployed the "3 on the spot” (on-site production, on-site dining, on-site rest) approach to meet the safety requirements for workers.

A encouraging signal for the city's economy in the January-  July period is that the global supply chain is gradually recovering, especially the key export markets of Da Nang enterprises such as the U.S., Europe, and Japan.

According to the Da Nang Statistical Office, between January and July, the index of industrial production (IIP) still increased by 3.4% from the same period last year. In particular, many spearhead sectors recorded a growth as compared to the same period last year, including  electronic product manufacturing rose by 22.2%, the production of rubber and plastic products up 52.5%, electrical equipment manufacturing up 34.7%, the production of beds, tables and chairs up 33.7%.
