At the meeting, JCCID expressed their impression with the rapid development of Da Nang and the interest in continuing to expand business investment activities and developing trade relations with the city. Mr. Yakabe Yoshinori, Chief Representative of Japanese Consulate Office in Da Nang suggested that the city should reserve an appropriate location for diplomatic corps area, creating favorable conditions for the Japanese Consulate Office to soon set up an official office (Japanese Consulate General) in Da Nang.
Onose Takahisa praised the investment environment of Da Nang for lower land rent compared to other big cities in Viet Nam, which would help to attract more Japanese enterprises to invest in Da Nang in the near future. With his role and experience, he made a pledge to help calling for more invesments from Japanese enterprises in the city.
Members of the JCCID Exceutive Board proposed that the city should concentrate on developing qualified labor resources in order to promptly meet the demand of enterprises; while raising suggestions relating to high-skilled labor training, early handling of legal procedures for land use right, procedures for relocation of enterprises, issuance of new work permits, protecting tourists from pestering at the airport…
Chairman Huynh Duc Tho highly appreciated the active role of the Japanese business community in the socio-economic development of the city. Currently, Japanese investors is taking the leading position among 38 countries and territories investing in Da Nang with 204 on-going projects and a total capital of 901 million USD, mostly in the sectors of manufacturing, processing, construction and information technology. Particularly, 2019 witnessed a number of large Japanese investment projects to be invested and expanded in the city (Daiwa Vietnam’s factory expansion project, Mikazuki Spa&Hotel Resort…).
Chairman Huynh Duc Tho also expressed the city's commitment in creating favorable conditions for Japanese investors to expand production and investment in Da Nang. The Chairman requested relevant Departments and Agencies to actively support and proposed to Ministries and central agencies to promptly sovle the above-mentioned problems for Japanese enterprises, especially on the procedures of granting new work permits for foreign workers.
Given the context of the worldwide outbreak of pneumonia caused by a new strain of Corona virus (COVID), Japanese enterprises affirmed that each enterprise had proactively responded by formulating and implementing the preventive measures under the guidance of the Ministry of Health, guaranteeing the quality of working environment (sharing precise and timely information on epidemic prevention, body temperature measurement, medical equipment, factory hygiene, ensuring conditions of environmental safety and hygiene, food safety). At the same time, they confirmed that the epidemic outbreaks would not lead to any business stagnation.
With the willingness to listen to and resolve the obstacles Japanese enterprises were facing, the City Chairman called on the enterprises to maintain their business operation and further enhance the joint efforts to overcome the difficulties in this period together. The city government would join hands to develop a stronger Japanese business community, contributing to the general development of Da Nang city.
On behalf of the Association, President Onose Takahisa showed his gratitude to the city leader(s) for their support to the Japanese business community and expressed his belief in Da Nang to continue to become an attractive destination for Japanese investment in the future.

The Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Da Nang, founded in 2008, has 142 members. The Japanese enterprise community has always showed their concerns over the city’s policies on infrastructure, human resources, service quality… in order to work closely with the city government to improve the quality of the business environment.
