The seminar is part of the series of investment promotion events celebrating the 44th anniversary of Da Nang City’s Liberation Day (March 29, 1975 – March 29, 2019) with the main focus on deploying the conclusions of The Spring Dialogue 2019 and generating an opportunity for enterprises, investors and training institutions to network and work towards solutions for labor capital in key areas of Da Nang, such as manufacturing industry, ICT and tourism.
In his opening remarks at the seminar, Mr. Vo Cong Tri – Standing Deputy Secretary of Da Nang Municipal Party Committee put an emphasis on the importance of labor capital in creating competitive advantages, attracting investments and developing city’s socio-economy. With a young and dynamic population of more than 1.2 million people, in which labor force accounts for 55%, Da Nang has a rich and potential labor resource possessing increasingly high – quality training, according to PCI report. However, he also claimed that there were still existing obstacles and shortcomings in training quality, scientific research, innovation and human resource development. Accordingly, in the coming time, Da Nang will construct and implement the plan to develop high – quality human resources preparing for Industrial Revolution 4.0, concentrating on key areas; at the same time review and complete immigration policy; improve training quality of international standard educational institutions; improve labor market transparency.
Also at the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Van An - Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs reported the status of labor and the capability to supply human resources of Da Nang in the coming time. From 2013 to 2018, the labor force in the city improved not only in quantity but also quality with labor structure shifting towards services - industry - agriculture. However, it was stated that labor resources for executive managers and senior experts positions have not met the demands of enterprises. By 2025, the demand for labor in Da Nang is forecast to grow by 250,000 while the figure for 2030 is 300,000.
According to the report of Ms. Vu Thi Bich Hau - Deputy Director of Department of Science and Technology, in the past 5 years, the city has enhanced the quality of management and organizing in science and technology mechanism to create favorable conditions for individuals, organizations and enterprises to participate in scientific research, technological development, technology application and innovation as well as to promote innovation activities. With the orientation of developing smart city and e-government, Da Nang will continue to build on science and technology policy mechanism; support scientific research and technology transfer activities for enterprises; implement the plan for the project " National Program to Support Innovative Startup Ecosystem in Viet Nam by the year 2025".

Besides the plenary session, the seminar also included 3 panel sessions focusing on the key economic sectors of the city: "Science and Technology Development Networking between Training Institutions, Businesses and Da Nang City’s Government”; "Human Resources in Manufacturing Industry Networking", "Human Resources in ICT and Tourism Networking".
At the seminar "Science and Technology Development Networking between Training Institutions, Businesses and Da Nang City’s Government", Mr. Dang Viet Dung - Standing Vice Chairman of Da Nang People's Committee affirmed the importance of the relationship of 3 "parties" – local government, scientists and businesses in scientific research and technology transfer to achieve socio-economic development objectives of the city.

In his concluding remarks at the seminar “Human Resources in Manufacturing Industry Networking”, Mr. Tran Van Mien - Vice Chairman of Da Nang People's Committee said that the city’s government would continue to upgrade and complete the objectives, plans, directions and measures to develop human resources for high-tech parks and Da Nang industrial parks in the coming time.
At the seminar " Human Resources in ICT and Tourism Networking ", Mr. Le Trung Chinh - Vice Chairman of Da Nang People's Committee suggested that training institutions and enterprises to actively strengthen the relationship to work out the solutions for outstanding problems. In addition, the city will continually organize connecting events to for the parties to network and exchange information.
The success of “Networking for Human Resources and Science & Technology Development” has significantly boosted the connection between city leaders, training institutions and businesses in solving human resource issues of the city. Additionally, it also creates a premise for the series of networking events in the near future.
