The event was chaired by Da Nang Party Committee Secretary cum Head of the municipal National Assembly Truong Quang Nghia.
Also present at the event were Minister of Construction Pham Hong Ha, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Vu Dai Thang, Secretary of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Party Committee Le Truong Luu, and Japanese Ambassador to Viet Nam Umeda Kunio.
In addition, Party Committee Deputy Secretary Vo Cong Tri, People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho, People’s Council Chairman Nguyen Nho Trung, and other People’s Committee Vice Chairmen, attended the event.
In his remarks at the event, Chairman Tho remarked last year his city maintained stable growth rate, and its urban infrastructure was improved. In addition, the security and defence was ensured.
Most notably, the city was one of the top 10 best places in the world for foreigners to live in 2018, according to the international tourism magazine Live and Invest Overseas (LIO).
Furthermore, Da Nang was awarded the title ‘National Capital of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)’s One Planet City Challenge 2018 (OPCC) programme’.
The city leader noted the positive results were mainly attributed to the great contributions by the business community. This affirmed the vital role of the business community in promoting the city’s socio-economic development.
He hoped that the business community and enterprises would continue joining forces with the municipal leaders to build Da Nang into an ecological and smart urban, a creative and innovative startup centre, and a liveable city in the future.
“This year’s event offers the good opportunity for the municipal leaders to continue listening to the participants’ opinions, proposals, and suggestions in order to review and adjust the city’s socio-economic development model and strategy, as well as attract even more investment inflows”, Mr Tho emphasised.
He, therefore, added the city is need of intellectual and financial assistance from the participants and the city’s business community with the spirit of openness, sharing and listening in the coming time in a bid to fulfil the city’s development goals.
In his closing remarks at the event, Secretary Nghia highly appreciated opinions given by participating entrepreneurs and investors.
The municipal Party Chief also vowed that the priority would be on creating a truly transparent and healthy investment environment, and providing even more active assistance for businesses operating in the city, including small and medium-sized enterprises and startups, in the coming time.
Mr Nghia affirmed in addition to the Spring Dialogue, the city would create more information channels and organise more meetings with business associations and investors in the time ahead.
Secretary Nghia also asked for help from the business community, entrepreneurs, investors and researchers to continue giving more practical and effective opinions to the city leaders in a bid to develop Da Nang a more friendly, dynamic, modern and creative city.
Also at the event, the municipal government granted investment policy decisions and investment registration certificates to 8 projects worth nearly 500 million USD in total, as well as granted permission for domestic and foreign investors to conduct research into 12 local projects.
