According to Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh, Da Nang has established friendship relations with 38 provinces and cities of 19 countries and territories. Da Nang started cooperation relations with Shandong province since 1994 and signed a bilateral Memorandum of Understandings to boost cooperation in economic, tourism and cultural exchange. Although the bilateral relations had been strengthened and developed, the economic cooperation was not commensurate with the potentials of two sides. Vice chairman also suggested businesses of two sides increase exchange to seek relevant partners for business cooperation especially in the field of agriculture.
On behalf of Shandong province, Wang said, Son Dong is the large province with rich agricultural resource. In 2016, the trade value between Shandong and Vietnam reached 4.1 billion USD; there were 102 businesses investing in Vietnam with the total capital of 1.22 billion USD. The delegation was accompanied by 15 typical enterprises operating in sectors of agriculture, production of fertilizers, pesticides, machinery seeking for investment cooperative opportunities in Da Nang. Shandong representative proposed to increase mutual understanding in agriculture, promoting businesses' cooperation in production and application of such products as agricultural product processing, manufacturing machinery, producing pesticides and chemical fertilizers, building cooperation and exchange schemes by organising exhibitions, fairs, conferences, technology exchange forums, summit seminars, bilateral cooperative ties...
Also at the seminar, Deputy Director of Da Nang Investment Promotion Agency Huynh Lien Phuong presented on the city's investment environment and invited Shandong businesses to study investment opportunities in such projects as Da Nang Fishery Development Center at Tho Quang Fish Port, Cattle and Poultry Breeding Centre, Safe & Healthy Vegetable Hi-Tech Applied Production, Production and supply of mushroom seedlings, commercial and medicinal mushroom, Medicinal Plant Growing,etc.
In 2016, export from Da Nang to China approximately reached 22 million USD, import 210 million USD. By March 2017, China has accumulated 12 FDI projects with the total investment capital of more than 6.22 million USD. In the cooperative framework between two localities, Da Nang city has developed cooperative relations and experience exchanges in administrative reform, urban planning and management ... with Shandong's cities such as Qingdao, Jinan.
