On March 15th, Vice Chairman of Da Nang People's Committee Ho Ky Minh met with the delegation from Baise City, Guangxi, China led by Peng Xiaochun, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Baise Municipal People's Congress on their first visit to Da Nang.
Baise City is located in the northwest of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, bordering Guizhou and Yunnan provinces as well as Ha Giang and Cao Bang provinces of Vietnam. The city had advantages in aluminum and aluminum ore mining and processing, coal and manganese processing; fruit tree and food crop cultivation. It is also Guangxi's third biggest producer of hydropower.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh presented the socio- economic achievements as well as future development objectives of Da Nang. On behalf of the delegation, Secretary Peng Xiaochun said that the visit was an opportunity to enhance the mutual understanding between Da Nang and Baise, and a prerequisite for promoting cooperation in tourism, agriculture, trade and investment.
So far, China has accumulated 1,587 projects in Vietnam with a total investment capital of USD11.1 billion, ranking 12th out of 116 countries in number of investment projects. Da Nang has 12 FDI projects from China with a total investment capital of USD6.22 million, representing 0.167 % of total FDI capital, ranking 12th out of 43 countries in number of investment projects.
