In the afternoon of January 9th, 2017, within the framework of the visit of the Australian business delegation in Danang at the recommendation of Dr. Lee E. J. Styger, Director of the EMBA program of Sydney Business School, Wollongong University, Australia, Danang Investment Promotion Agency hosted a business networking session for Australian and Danang enterprises. More than 20 Australian businessmen and representatives of Danang departments and businesses participated in the event. This is the second time the EMBA delegation paid the visit to Danang to learn about the city's investment environment.
With the comprehensive partnership established in September 2009, the trade and investment relationship between the Australia and Vietnam are continously deepened. Regarding investment, Australia currently has 22 FDI projects in Danang with a total registered capital of almost USD 10 million. The number of Australian visitors also rose sharply, from 6,910 visitor arrivals in 2011 to nearly your times higher in 2016. Australia is one of the countries having constant support to Vietnam and Danang in focused sectors like education and training, support to private sector, sustainable development, innovation industries, green development, and other projects in climate change effect mitigation.
At the seminar, representative from Investment Promotion Agency introduced about the city's investment and business environment, the socio-economic development as well as investment incentives and FDI attraction policies. In the Q&A session, Australian businesses raised many questions regarding the role of EWEC in quickening the regional economic development; Danang's ICT infrastructure development plans and its impact on Danang's economic – tourism growth; the use of media to promote Danang's investment, trade and tourism opportunities; and tax, insurance, labor policies and incentives for foreign investors in Danang.
During its visit in Danang, the Australian delegation also paid field visits and worked with Danang Port, Danang Hi-tech Park, FPT Software Co., Ltd and Ocean Villas project.
