Within the framework of the delegation of the Governor of Wakayama Prefecture (Japan) visiting and working in Da Nang City, at the end of July 2023, the Investment Promotion Agency coordinated with the delegation of Wakayama Prefecture Parliamentarians to organize the Da Nang - Wakayama Investment Promotion and Trade Connection Workshop, attracting more than 150 delegates. Therefore, the participation of the representative of the Investment Promotion and Support Board in the Vietnam - Japan Investment and Trade Cooperation Conference in Wakayama one year later (July 25, 2024) is considered a positive move to promote investment cooperation between the two sides.
The conference was successfully held with the participation of nearly 80 delegates from investment and trade promotion agencies, Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises. The post-conference trade program attracted nearly 60 direct transactions between localities, industrial zones, Vietnamese enterprises and Japanese investors and enterprises in various investment and trade fields.

In the conference program, Mr. Ta Duc Minh - Commercial Counselor, Embassy of Vietnam in Japan said, "The relationship between Vietnam and Japan is a typical example of the success of Vietnam's bilateral cooperation with trusted partners in the world. Japan maintains its position as a leading important partner of Vietnam in many fields such as foreign direct investment, balanced bilateral trade, ODA capital provision, labor export, tourism, education - training, culture, people-to-people exchange.... Local cooperation is also a bright spot in the relationship between the two countries with more than 100 pairs of localities of Vietnam and Japan having cooperation and twinning agreements".
Mr. Tabata Kazuya - Director of the Business Promotion Department, Wakayama Provincial Government introduced the trade and investment needs of Wakayama enterprises to Vietnam. He emphasized that Wakayama Prefecture, with its advantages in textiles and high-tech agriculture, is looking for opportunities to expand its business activities in the Vietnamese market. Wakayama businesses are interested in investing in areas such as agriculture, manufacturing and food processing. He affirmed that the Wakayama Provincial Government will provide maximum support to businesses in the process of market research, establishing partnerships and implementing investment projects in Vietnam.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Huu Nhi - Deputy Chief of Office of the Danang Investment Promotion Agency conveyed the message of improving the business environment, infrastructure development plans and inviting Japanese investors to survey and invest in the locality. In addition to investment information, he also presented information on trade, tourism, and international cooperation of Da Nang city with Japanese partners: Da Nang's main export items to the Japanese market are: textiles, seafood, electrical and electronic equipment, automobile electrical wires, mobile phone headphone wires, children's toys, handicraft products, wood chips, net products, fishing rods, etc. Main import items: Sewing materials, transformer manufacturing materials, electronic components, candle manufacturing materials, chemicals, etc. Da Nang is a favorite destination for Japanese tourists. According to rough estimates, for every 5 Japanese people coming to Vietnam, 1 person came to Da Nang in the period before the Covid-19 pandemic. Da Nang city has signed a memorandum of understanding to establish official friendship and cooperation relations with 4 localities in Japan.
