According to Project 940, Da Nang will build 9 main logistics centers, located at traffic hubs, industrial parks, and industrial clusters, including:
- Lien Chieu port logistics center: 35ha by 2030 and 70ha by 2050;
- Hoa Nhon logistics center (combined with dry port): the scale of 40ha by 2030, 75ha by 2050;
- New Kim Lien cargo station logistics center, scale of 6ha by 2030, to 10ha by 2050;
- Da Nang International Airport Logistics Center, scale of 5ha by 2030, to 10ha by 2050
- Logistics center of the hi-tech zone, with a scale of 5ha by 2030, and 20ha by 2050.
- Hoa Phu logistics center: the scale of 5ha by 2030, by 2050 to 8ha
- Hoa Phuoc logistics center: scale 7ha by 2030, by 2050 to 15ha
- Hoa Ninh logistics center: the scale of 20ha by 2050
- Hoa Hiep Bac logistics center: 42ha by 2050
In addition, Da Nang also determines to form other logistics centers and warehouses on bypasses of highways, industrial parks, clusters, etc., with a total area of up to 70ha by 2030 and 120ha by the year 2050.
To increase investment attraction in logistics, Project 940 of Da Nang City has also clearly identified several main solutions as follows:
- Research and propose the formation of a Free Trade Area (FTZ), centered on the Lien Chieu seaport area, Da Nang International Airport, Hi-Tech Park, industrial parks, etc. to provide advantages and attractive incentives to attract investors.
- Develop and implement promotion plans to call for investment in logistics service infrastructure projects and deploy promotion activities for the logistics industry.
- Organize research groups to go abroad and invite foreign businesses to Da Nang to exchange investment opportunities, cooperate in developing logistics services, host to organize international conferences and seminars on logistics, etc.
- Organize investment and trade promotion in the South Central provinces of Laos to maintain and create more stable and sustainable customers from the Lao market through Da Nang seaport on the East-West economic corridor.
- Speeding up procedures for approval of investment policies for logistics center projects.
The construction of a logistics center will contribute to promoting the upgrading of the connection infrastructure system, supporting the transshipment of goods, forming many new urban areas, etc. Based on the authorities' statistics, Da Nang has more than 1,000 enterprises engaged in logistics-related activities, of which nearly 20 enterprises provide integrated logistics services. The number of human resources involved in logistics in the area accounts for about 2.7% of the logistics workforce across the country and about 40% of the logistics workforce in the Central economic region, with about 14,000 employees. According to many economic experts, despite having great advantages, to build a logistics center, the logistics industry of Da Nang as well as many other provinces and cities in the region, are facing many difficulties. Therefore, it's necessary to have "a conductor" with a long-term strategic vision, towards building large-scale logistics centers that be able to serve inter-regional services instead of serving only a few businesses in the local industrial zone.
