SSupporting Industries and Business Matching Da Nang 2022 aims to provide a platform whrere businesses in supporting industries from Da Nang, other cities and provinces in Central Region and Central Highlands expand network and learn co-operation opportunities. The Organizing Committee also expects the event to promote linkages between businesses in supporting industries and manufacturers of finished products to help those businesses penetrate deeply into the global supply chain. The event attracts the participation of nearly 100 delegates representing Ministry of Industry and Trade, diplomatic missions, international organizations; units and departments of Da Nang City and other provinces; business associations; domestic and foreign businesses and investors. In his opening remarks, Permanent Vice Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee Ho Ky Minh highlights that over the past time, the city has issued and implemented various policies and orientations to promote the development of supporting industries in Da Nang, consolidating the roles of supporting industries, hi-tech industries and IT industry as 3 main pillars for the city’s development. On October 2020, Da Nang Party Committee issued Resolution No.01-NQ/TU on developing supporting industries in Da Nang City until 2030 with a vision to 2045, setting the goal of expanding the number and capabilities of enterprises in supporting industries which are capable of manufacturing products with competitive advantages. In addition, Da Nang People’s Council issued Resolution No.53/2021/NQ-HDND dated December 17, 2021 regulating policies and Da Nang People’s Committee issued Program to promote the development of the city’s supporting industries.
Speaking at the event, on behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Deputy Minister Do Thang Hai says that the manufacturing industry and supporting industries are receiving special attention. The Politburo issued Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW dated March 22, 2018 on orientations for building national industrial development policies to 2030, with a vision to 2045. Accordingly, the Resolution identifies the development of the processing and manufacturing industry as the center; the development of smart manufacturing industry is a breakthrough and sets a target that by 2030, the proportion of industry in GDP will reach over 40% and the proportion of processing and manufacturing industry in GDP is about 30%. According to Mr. Do Thang Hai: “Da Nang city plays an important and nuclear role in the Central Key Economic Zone. In terms of economic structure of Da Nang city, industry - construction accounts for 20.72% of the GRDP. With its competitive advantages in terms of geographical location, infrastructure and human resources, Da Nang city still has a lot of room for industrial development, especially supporting industries.
During the discussion session, the delegates also contributed ideas and suggestions on solutions to promote the development of supporting industries in Da Nang city in particular and the whole country in general. Mr. Christopher Vanloon, Chairman of AmCham Da Nang claims that the weak link between local suppliers and FDI manufacturing enterprises should be taken into consideration and the city authority is still quite loose and suggested that the city authority needs to focus on improving production capacity of local enterprises for an efficient supply chain. A representative from Tan Long Packaging Company also proposes the city to expand the list of products of prioritized incentives and create favourable conditions for businesses to access capital from investment funds...
In addition, the signing ceremony of MOU on cooperation of 04 connecting pairs also took place at the event.
Value added (VA) (at 2010 constant prices) of supporting industries in Da Nang city in the period 2011-2021 reached 19,200 billion dong, accounting for 20% of VA of the whole industry. The proportion of VA of supporting industry products in the whole industry increased gradually over the years, from 17.1% in 2011 to over 20.2% in 2021. In the city, there are about 110 enterprises operating or being capable of engaging in production activities in the fields of supporting industries, accounting for about 6.3% of the total number of industrial enterprises in the city. Of which, there are 43 FDI enterprises (accounting for about 39% of the total number of supporting industry enterprises); 67 domestic enterprises operating in the field of mechanical engineering (accounting for nearly 61% of the total number of supporting industry enterprises). The rate of trained technical workers of supporting industry enterprises is about approx. 30-40%. |
