On May 29, at Administrative Center, Mr. Ho Ky Minh - Vice Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee chaired a workshop on economic and trade cooperation between Da Nang and Shandong (China).
The Shandong delegation was led by Mr. Wang Liang - Vice Chairman of Shandong provincial People’s Council, including 25 enterprises from various sectors such as mechanics and electronics; electricity; ICT; smart city consultation, etc. Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Ho Ky Minh emphasized the importance of the workshop on promoting cooperative relationship between the two localities in terms of trade and investment. Statistics show that currently, China has 56 FDI projects in Da Nang, in which 26 from Mainland China (8.3 million USD), 13 from Hong Kong (21.6 million USD) and the rest from Taiwan (8.3 million USD) with the focus on manufacturing industry, restaurants, consulting, construction and real estates. Especially, in 2018, China was the second biggest foreign market regarding the number of tourist arrivals to Da Nang in 2018.
During the workshop, Da Nang and Shandong not only presented the potentials and strengths to each other; but also discussed future possibilities of intensive collaboration.
In the same morning, “Da Nang – Thailand Investment and Trade Workshop” was chaired by Mr. Tran Van Mien – Vice Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee. The workshop had the honor to welcome H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat – Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Viet Nam, representatives from Thailand Board of Investment, Thailand Fiscal Policy Research Institute Foundation and 40 Thai investors.
Mr. Tran Van Mien highlighted the strong and long-lasting relationship between Viet Nam and Thailand in terms of trade and investment, which was even strengthened after the countries participated in the ASEAN economic community in 2015. It is also noted that Thailand has become the largest trading partner of Viet Nam in ASEAN. In Da Nang, Thailand has 06 FDI projects with the total capital investment of 21 million USD, mainly in fields of manufacturing and services. Mr. Mien stated that the event was an important opportunity for the city to introduce itself to Thai Embassy, creating a foundation for collaborative investment and trade strategies in the coming time. Ambassador Tanee Sangrat expressed his gratitude to Da Nang People’s Committee for offering precious chances for Thai enterprises to learn about the business environment and collaboration opportunities in Da Nang.
After the workshop, the Thai delegation paid a site visit to Da Nang Port to learn about Da Nang’s logistic activities./.
