Da Nang scored 0.94 points on the 1-point scale, followed by Ho Chi Minh City with 0.67, and Ha Noi with 0.65.
The results were jointly announced on Wednesday morning by the IT Department of the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Viet Nam Association for Information Processing.
The Viet Nam ICT Index 2018 is structured following the United Nations standard, which consists of 3 main components: technical infrastructure, manpower infrastructure and IT applications.
As for the technical infrastructure criterion which includes fixed/mobile telephone usage, Internet and broadband subscriptions, and information security solutions, Da Nang scored 0.93 points, followed by Ba Ria-Vung Tau with 0.76 and Ho Chi Minh City with 0.58.
With regard to the manpower infrastructure, Da Nang rose to the top with a score of 0.96.
In the category of IT applications, Da Nang took the lead with a score of 0.93. In particular, the city got the maximum score in the IT application within local State-run agencies. Meanwhile, it finished in 4th place in terms of the IT application through online public services, after the provinces of Thua Thien Hue, Quang Ninh and Ha Nam respectively.

The city’s top position in the ranking for 10 consecutive years clearly demonstrates that the city’s long-term incentive strategies for promoting the development of the local ICT sector have been aimed in the right direction.
The 2018 rankings is the 13th of its kind issued so far in the country.
