In the opening remarks, Chairman Huynh Duc Tho stated that the White Book 2018 is a very special edition because it is the 10th edition, published on the 20th anniversary of EuroCham and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and the EU. Over that period, the relationship between Viet Nam and the EU has been growing rapidly in all fields. For Da Nang City, EuroCham has contributed greatly in promoting Da Nang city to the business community in Europe, creating a forum for enterprises to make constructive recommendations to the government to improve the investment environment in the city.
Mr. Denis Brunetti, Co-chairman of EuroCham, briefly introduced the main contents of the White Book 2018. The book brings together the views and perspectives of EuroCham members who operate in different fields. They provide valuable proposals and recommendation to help the Vietnamese government develop legal framework and policies to create a prosperous business environment. At the event, other participants also actively pointed out some weaknesses and suggested initiatives to help Da Nang become an increasingly attractive destination for European investors. Moreover, the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Area (EVFTA) which is expected to come into effect this year will have a positive impact on both sides.
In his closing remarks, Chairman Huynh Duc Tho said that Da Nang city government would take notes and consider the suggestions of the European businesses gathered in the White Book 2018 and raised at the event. Along with the opportunities brought about by the EVFTA, the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and Viet Nam's broader integration into the global economy, Da Nang hopes to receive more European investors to invest and live in Da Nang.
