The Transport Ministry and the Viet Nam Expressway Corporation (VEC) conducted a trial run and put into operation the Km0 – Km65 section of the Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway, in Hoa Tien commune, Hoa Vang district, Da Nang city, on August 2.
With a length of almost 140 kilometres, the expressway runs through three central localities, including Da Nang (eight kilometres), Quang Nam province (92 kilometres) and Quang Ngai province (40 kilometres).
The project has a total investment of US$1.64 billion, of which US$798 million was sourced from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and over 590 million financed by the World Bank and the remainder as the Vietnamese Government’s counterpart capital, which serves compensation, land clearance and resettlement work.
The Da Nang-Quang Ngai
The expressway will shorten the travel time between Da Nang, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai, reduce traffic overload on National Highway 1 and promote defense, security and economic growth in the region.
The work is expected to be completed by the end of 2017.
