At the meeting, Mr. Huynh Duc Tho briefly introduced Da Nang's outstanding socio-economic developments, its comparative advantages, and the city's orientation for future development. He also highly appreciated the fruitful friendly cooperation between Da Nang and Battambang Province. In the past years, in addition to developing the city's economy with a focus on spearheaded sectors such as services, tourism, trade, industries and hi-tech industries, the city also gradually improved its transport infrastructure to develop Da Nang into an environmentally friendly city.
Mayor Prach Chan stated that this was his third visit to Da Nang. He expressed his gratitude for the uncompareable support of the Vietnamese government and people in general, and the warm welcome of Da Nang city's leaders in particular. Da Nang has made impressive achievements in the past time in such fields as education, economy, healthcare, sports and has sent many experts to Battambang to support the province's development. Furthermore, he informed that Battambang was interested in strengthening its cooperation with Da Nang and other provinces in Viet Nam. Moreover, he hoped to enhance cooperation and exchange with Da Nang in some areas such as agriculture, services, and training in the future.
On the occasion of the delegation's visit, the two localities signed a Memorandum of Understanding on establishing mutual cooperative relationships in regional developments.
It is known that based on the Agreement on the Establishment of Official Relations signed between Quang Nam-Da Nang Province and Battambang Province in 1980, Quang Nam-Da Nang Province has helped Battambang in such areas as education, millitary, healthcare, and sports, sent many officials to Battambang to assist with those areas, and helped build a number of clinics and schools. Furthermore, in 2012 and 2013, senior delegations from Da Nang and Battambang Province exchanged visits and signed Working Minutes on the implementation of cooperative activities in tourism, culture, sports, education and training, agriculture, investment and trade, and natural disaster migitation and relief.
