On March 30th the seminar on "Promoting Korean Investment into Central Vietnam" was held by Investment Promotion Centre Central Vietnam in coordination with Korea Export and Import Bank (KEXIM), which attracted the participation of representatives of Korean businesses, Korea Trade Centre (KOTRA), and more than 60 representatives of Central Vietnam provinces. 3 authorities representing Da Nang City attended the seminar included Da Nang Investment Promotion Agency, Da Nang Hi-tech Park Authority and Sai Gon- Da Nang Investment Corporation- the developer of Expanded Hoa Khanh IZ and Lien Chieu IZ.
Business participants were briefed about general views on the investment environment and encouraged sectors for investment in provinces, especially those which were strongly recommended for cooperation with Korea. At the seminar, Ms. Huynh Lien Phuong, Deputy Director of Da Nang Investment Promotion Agency presented on the potentials and advantages of Da Nang for investment promotion, the bilateral economic relations and cooperative opportunities in investment projects such as: wastewater treatment, IZ infrastructure development, logistics centre, Lien Chieu Port construction...
So far Korea has been the biggest FDI investor in Vietnam with 5,747 projects with a total investment capital of more than 50.7 billion USD. However, operation of Korean businesses in the Central region is still modest with investment of about 2.5 billion USD, accounting for only 5% of total registered investment capital.
