Danang Port held a ceremony marking the 7.25 million tonnes of cargo of 2016 and handled its first million tonne of cargo on the first day of 2017.
With the company motto "Productivity- Safety- Efficiency" and the advantages of being one of the largest and best- equipped ports in the country, last year,the port's cargo volume experienced a 13% year-on-year increase, in which container volume reached 320,000 TEUs, increasing by 24% over the same period of 2015. Danang Port also hosted 73 cruises with 135,000 tourists and crew members to the city.
Over the last 5 years, the annual cargo volume growth rate of Danang Port surged at 13%, in which that of container cargo was 22%/year, accounting for more than 60% of the port's capacity.Currently, Danang Port had received approximately 24 container ships of the world's leading container brands such as Maersk Lines, Evergreen, MSC, Wanhai, SITC, Yangming... every week.
Also at the ceremony, Danang Port launched the operation of its third quay container crane (QCC 3) with the maximum lifting capacity of 50 tonne weight and 30 metre height. This is the first Feeder Server crane in Vietnam with 40m reaching capacity that can exploit even 15 row container ships.
Danang Port aimed at achieving 7.6 million tonne cargo volume including360,000 TEU container in 2017, climbing to 10 million tonne volume and 510,000 Teu container in 2020.
