In the morning of 15th December, 2016, Da Nang Investment Promotion Agency (IPA Da Nang) and Bank of Gifu Shinkin (Japan) has signed the Memorandum of Understanding with an aim to facilitate Japanese SMEs in investment and business operation in Da Nang city which promotes the expansion of business opportunities of Gifu Shinkin Bank's clients as well as contributes to the socio-economic development of Da Nang city.
Being established since 1924, Bank of Gifu Shinkin is the largest credit institution in Gifu, Japan with 87 branches in the province of Gifu and Aichi and 156,638 clients. In Da Nang city, there are currently 07 Japanese enterprises (01 in Da Nang Hi-tech park, 03 in Industrial Zones and 03 in service sector) who are the clients of Bank of Gifu Shinkin.
Bank of Gifu Shinkin's main network is in the province of Gifu and Aichi – the central region of Japan. This is the hub of supporting industries clusters serving aviation, automobile, medical equipments, information technology and tourism with such large corporation as Toyota, Kawasaki, Mitsubishi, Densho, etc..
At the signing ceremony, Mr. Le Canh Duong – Director of IPA Da Nang expressed his pleasure in cooperating with Bank of Gifu Shinkin – the first bank to sign the MOU with IPA. With 113/434 projects and total registered capital of more than US$ 397.5 mil (accounting to 10,78% of the total registered FDI capital in Da Nang city), Japan is currently the top investor in Da Nang city regarding the number of FDI projects. Japanese projects have recently shifted from manufacturing and processing (84%) to service sectors, especially in IT, tourism, real-estate, healthcare and education, etc.. Annually, there are at least 2 outbound investment delegations from Da Nang city to Japan to call for Japanese investment into hi-tech, IT, supporting and service industries. The cooperation between Bank of Gifu Shinkin and IPA Da Nang is the solid "premise" for the promotion of investment from Japanese enterprises into Da Nang city. Mr. Duong also suggested that Bank of Gifu Shinkin continue to support the introduction and promotion of investment opportunities and potentials of the city to Japanese enterprises, as well as liaise Japanese enterprises to visit and study about the city's investment environment.
On behalf of Bank of Gifu Shinkin, Mr. Masatoshi Takahashi – the bank's President expressed his gratitude to IPA leaders' warm welcome. According to Mr. Masatoshi Takahashi, Japanese enterprises have showed great interest in studying about the city's investment environment and opportunities in such sectors as hi-tech and supporting industries as well as dentistry. The cooperation between the two parties will create a more regular information exchange channel for the bank to get Japanese enterprises with interest updated about Da Nang city. He also informed that expectedly in March, 2017, there will be a business delegation from Aichi province to visit Vietnam in general and Da Nang city in particular. The detailed agenda has been finalized with the Representative Office of Da Nang city in Japan.
