Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar Tran Duc Hung stated that the Da Nang - Qatar Investment and Business Opportunity Conference was the first trade, investment and tourism promotion activity by the Vietnamese Embassy in Qatar organized according to the model of promoting a specific locality of Vietnam to Qatar in recent years, especially this is also the first economic event in 2023 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Qatar (February 8, 1993 - February 8, 2023). According to the Ambassador, the trade turnover between Vietnam and Qatar in recent years has always been between 400 and 500 million USD and is expected to gradually recover. In 2023, the second pivotal year of Vietnam's 2021-2025 economic plan, the Government will focus on removing difficulties for industrial enterprises, find solutions to enhance foreign investment attraction (such as upgrading infrastructure together with creating favorable conditions for investors..) and promoting international tourism…. These will be favorable conditions for Qatari businesses and investors to access the Vietnamese market in the near future.
In his remark at the Conference, Chairman of Da Nang People's Committee Le Trung Chinh commented that Da Nang has been identified as an economic, political and cultural center, a strategic port city, and plays a key role in the growth of the central region of Vietnam, is the leading investment and business destination of domestic and international investors. Orientation to 2030, with a vision to 2045, Da Nang focuses on developing into one of the major socio-economic centers of the country and Southeast Asia. Therefore, Da Nang prioritizes and focuses resources on calling for foreign direct investment and desires to invite Qatari businesses to investigate the investment and business opportunities in the city in the fields of tourism, financial services, infrastructure, logistics... In 2018, Qatar Airways launched a direct flight to Da Nang, contributing to boosting the number of Qatari tourists to explore the city and creating a premise for cooperation of both sides. This is the first time Da Nang organized an investment conference in Qatar to introduce the investment, business and tourism environment and opportunities in Da Nang to Qatari businesses. Da Nang is committed to supporting procedures and creating favorable conditions for Qatari businesses to invest and do their business in the city.
Within the framework of the Conference, the Da Nang Investment and Promotion Agency presented about competitive advantages when investing in the city, the procedures, processes and incentives for investment in a number of fields and projects that Da Nang is calling for investment such as Lien Chieu Port, Hi-Tech Park, Information Technology Park, International Financial Center, as well as projects in the fields of tourism and trade... At the event, Qatari businesses expressed their hope that Da Nang city will organize more activities to promote investment and tourism in the Qatar market. In particular, in the field of tourism, travel companies in Qatar such as Mosafer Travel and Tourism, Regency Travel and Tours, Desert Harbor Tourism informed that many Qatari tourists are also interested in Vietnam and recommend that Da Nang should pay attention to food provision and transportation services which must be up to Halal standards n order to serve Muslim tourists and also consider developing services and tourist attractions for children and families to serve travel habits of Qatari tourists. Da Nang city also identified Qatar, UAE and Middle Eastern countries as new and potential markets for Da Nang tourism and will connect with the Vietnamese Embassy in Qatar to organize tourism promotional activities including business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) connections in the near future.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City highly appreciated the comments of the delegates attending the Conference, expressed his wish to welcome Qatari businesses to visit and study investment and business opportunities in the city and committed to creating favorable conditions for Qatari businesses to carry out successfull investment and business projects in the city.
